 Apatite is a calcium phosphate and quite a rare tourmaline variety.

It comes in many colors and forms, and it’s often confused with many other minerals, and Fluorite.

It can be opaque, translucent, or transparent. Its colors range from white to greenish yellow, brown and violet! In recent times blue apatite has increased in popularity whilst yellow apatite has declined in popularity.

It’s named for the Greek word ‘apatao’, which means to deceive. This is because it’s chemical composition almost imitates the chemical composition of many other stones.
