A superb and magnificent magenta coloured floral print satin evening dress from the mid-1950s. Formal wear from this era is becoming increasingly difficult to source and this is a beautifully made evening gown with good technique and classic construction details in a fine quality jacquard fabric comprising of: Princess seamed bodice, fit and flare floor length panelled skirt and wide pleated straps which form a square neckline. There are two under skirts to support the shape of the dress; the first, a stiffened muslin and the second, a light-weight fleece liner. These are only attached at the waistband and could be removed and worn separately if desired. There is a large bow attached at the top of the back of the dress which completes the look.
Condition wise this is absolutely extraordinary vintage condition with no faults of any note. The zip is a later replacement which is well matched with the dress. No labels remain; however, this is a quality dressmaker or atelier piece and the colours are very fresh and bright. Best fit for a UK size 6-8 or US 2-4.
