This dazzling 1950s gold brocade cocktail dress is demi-couture from Parisian designer Jacques Heim and has both simplicity and glamour with some beautiful construction details. The gold floral brocade fabric of the dress glitters pleasingly where it catches the light and is sparkly but not overstated. The dress is sleeveless and a simple shift style with a round neckline, neatly cinched waistline and a straight cut calf length skirt. The bodice has chevron shaped seams that graduate from the shoulders to a central point at the waist. The skirt has a lengthy slit on either side; however, only matching brocade featured on the petticoat is visible beneath, creating additional depth and movement to the line. The central zip fastening at the reverse of the dress is carefully concealed beneath a run of popper fastenings, which are not visible once secured. There is ivory toned silk lining throughout, largely finished by hand. This lovely piece is a perfect choice for parties or a vintage wedding and is in excellent vintage condition. Would fit up to a US size 6, UK size 10.
